  • 1. Welcome - Stearns Ranger District

    The Stearns Ranger District is the southernmost district of the Daniel Boone National Forest. On this district nearly 171,000 acres of national forest lands are managed across Wayne, Whitley, McCreary and Laurel counties. Stearns Ranger District surrounds the northern portion of the Big South fork National River and Recreation Area.

    Area attractions include campgrounds, trails, shooting ranges, picnic area, boat ramps and scenic areas. The district features two state Wild Rivers, Cumberland River and Rock Creek. The region also includes two federal candidates for National Wild and Scenic River designation - Marsh Creek and Rock Creek.
